Marine Le Pen’s Victory Damages Griffin

Last Sunday it was announced that Marine Le Pen had succeeded her father as President of the Front National with almost two thirds of the vote.

Prior to the election, she had made noises about distancing herself from Nick Griffin’s BNP, an article in the Telegraph explained:

“The FN, she insisted, was neither racist nor xenophobic but simply a “patriotic” party with more in common with Britain’s Ukip and its “opposition to the totalitarian character of the EU and its desire to remove people’s sovereignty” than the BNP.”

There is no doubt that this declaration follows a trend across Europe. Nationalist parties, those with competent leadership, are repositioning themselves to take advantage of the Freedom movement which is sweeping across European nations. Something the party could not hope to do with their founder Jean Marie Le Pen at the helm.

Unfortunately for Nick Griffin, he has backed another losing horse in the figure of Bruno Gollnisch, the defeated vice president of the Front National. The election of Marine Le Pen almost certainly means that Griffin won’t be receiving Official Front National visits and enjoying the endorsements of its leader on champagne visits to his Welshpool pig farm.

You would think that Nick Griffin would be attempting to make his party relevant again. That is has become irrelevant is evidenced by the lack of media interest in last year’s leadership nomination process, contrast this with the sheer amount of coverage that the Front National’s internal election process has received by major British newspapers. Not one major newspaper carried a single news item about the attempts to reform the British National Party (BNP).

Some commentators have suggested that the media is welcoming a reformed Front National, hence the semi-positive coverage of Marine Le Pen’s successful leadership bid. Therefore, logically speaking, is it not out of the question that the media wants to sustain Nick Griffin’s leadership of the BNP by denying coverage to his challengers? In fact, the recent internal ructions of the BNP unearthed an absolute gold mine of potentially negative news stories, which the media has largely ignored.

This poses a question to which both possible answers are only further damaging to Nick Griffin’s already ailing leadership.

The BNP is now irrelevant.

Or

Nick Griffin is the anti-nationalist media’s first choice for leader of the BNP.

If the former is true, then the obvious course of action would be to try new tactics, to change with the times. The rise of the English Defence League (EDL) is part of the very same Freedom movement discussed earlier, and it has replaced the BNP in terms of relevance. The fact is, the BNP cannot reposition itself with Nick Griffin as chairman, because nobody will work with him.

The Front National is just the latest organisation to make it clear that they will not work with the BNP whilst it remains under Griffin’s leadership. The list of players which will not make common cause with the BNP includes Lega Norde, Geert Wilders’ PVV, the EDL and the Swedish Democrats.

Griffin is always left playing ball with the smaller, less powerful and more unsavoury break-away factions which cannot or will not reposition themselves. The alliance with the National Democrats, rather than the Swedish democrats, being a perfect example.

The newly-formed British Freedom Party is busy extending the hand of friendship to the organisations which are already major players in the Freedom movement, the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. We are free from the hobble that a baggage-ridden leader presents and we will reap the rewards.

Many readers of the Griffinite British Resistance site possess the futile hope that the BNP under Nick Griffin can replicate the success of the European Freedom movements. They would do well to read this article, because short, sharp unpleasant realisation is infinitely preferable to savouring the bitterness of a long decline and inevitable defeat of their hopes.

You will never get through to a Griffinite, they suffer from acute tunnel vision and live in a fantasy world. They don't want to hear the harsh reality.Nationalists who refuse to modernise are in love with themselves and not their country.A true patriot would open their minds and would listen to constructive criticism. These people want fascism not freedom. They wallow in conspiracy theories and obsess over race. They are welcome to their drinking club. The Freedom Movement doesn't need them.

Marine is an intelligent woman that has the sense to see that nationalism based on race hatred and conspiracy theories will get nowhere with today's electorate.I wish the FN well and I look forward to a Freedom coalition that will work towards the downfall of the EU.

I would go BNP over UKIP anyway; although the main issue should be immigration (especially as it is more pc to talk about though only slightly), demographics and racial identity are important and should be broached without racial prejudice.

What's wrong in the above article, Sid? I would say that the events since have merely confirmed what was written here.
